Park Overview
Lake Manyara National Park is a protected area in Tanzania’s Arusha and Manyara Regions, situated between Lake Manyara and the Great Rift Valley. It is administered by the Tanzania National Parks Authority, and covers an area of 325 km² including about 230 km² lake surface
The name Manyara come from the Maasai word “emanyara”, which is the spiky, protective enclosure around a family homestead (boma). Possibly the 600 m high rift escarpment hems in the lake, like the enclosure around a Maasai boma.

Day game drive

During the game drive you will follow different game tracks in the thick forests and tracks to the lake which offer you with spectacular views of animals like elephants, waterbucks, gazelle, bushbucks, buffaloes, zebras, leopards primates like blue monkeys, baboons, different bird species like flamingos, pelicans, view different plant and tree species, beautiful views of the sunrise or sunset across the horizon, take great photos among others.

Enjoy a guided canoe ride on Lake Manyara, a shallow alkaline lake covering two-thirds of the park. Paddle quietly along the shores as you spot hippos, elephants, buffaloes, giraffes, and a variety of water birds including flamingos, fish eagles, and cormorants, all set against stunning scenery.
